TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises)

Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) are a series of exercises designed to activate a natural shaking or vibrating mechanism in the body, which eases muscle tension, calms the nervous system, and helps to release deep-seated tension and trauma. It can help reduce stress, anxiety and symptoms of PTSD, improve sleep, increase energy, and even alleviate some physical ailments, like muscle tension and pain.

Holistic Healing

Holistic healing is an approach to health and wellness that views the individual as a whole. It focuses not just on a person’s physical health, but on the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects, and emphasizes the importance of addressing underlying imbalances to support the body’s natural healing abilities. TRE aligns with the principles of holistic healing by addressing the physical manifestation of trauma and stress, which can become stored in the body as muscle tension.

Energy Healing

Energy Healing is a holistic practice that aims to restore balance to the vital energy that flows through the body, thereby supporting its natural ability to heal itself. Energy healing is often used as a complementary therapy alongside TRE. One example of energy healing, known as One Light Healing Touch, uses hands-on healing, visualization, meditation and breathwork to clear energy blockages and promote self-healing.

Nervous System Regulation

Nervous system regulation refers to the body’s ability to manage and adapt to stress, maintaining a balance between activation and relaxation. It involves coordinating the sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) nervous systems. Dysregulation can lead to various issues, including anxiety, poor sleep and difficulty concentrating. TRE can help regulate the nervous system and return the body to a state of calm and balance, potentially alleviating dysregulation symptoms.

PTSD

PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event or experiencing long-term neglect or abuse. This can be called cPTSD or complex PTSD. It involves a range of symptoms that can significantly impact a person’s life, including intrusive thoughts, avoidance behaviors and changes in mood and reactivity. TRE has been used to support and treat United States war veterans, as well as many others suffering with PTSD, and is found to reduce the need for drugs or psychotherapy to control PTSD symptoms.

Stress

Stress is a natural human response to demanding or challenging situations, which triggers both physical and emotional reactions in the body. While short-term stress can be helpful, long-term or chronic stress can negatively impact your physical and mental health. TRE uses gentle, body-based exercises to help release deep muscular tension and chronic stress patterns that can accumulate from everyday pressures or past traumatic experiences.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a normal human response to stress or a perceived danger, typically characterized by feelings of worry, nervousness and unease, and may be accompanied by sleep problems, muscle tension and heart racing. Everyone experiences anxiety sometimes, but persistent, excessive worrying that is difficult to control can interfere with daily life. TRE can be a helpful tool for managing anxiety and treating pain, tightness or other physical symptoms related to anxiety.

Trauma

Trauma is the emotional and psychological response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms a person’s ability to cope. It can stem from a single event or repeated experiences, and the impact varies from person to person. Trauma can lead to a range of emotional, psychological, and even physical symptoms. TRE can help the body process and release stored trauma without having to relive the traumatic experience.

Counselor

A counselor is a professional trained to provide guidance and support to individuals, couples, families, or groups facing various challenges. I offer a safe space for clients to explore their concerns, develop coping mechanisms, and make positive changes. As a certified TRE practitioner with a master’s degree in counseling psychology and certification in several other energetic healing modalities, I am dedicated to helping individuals naturally release stress, tension and trauma from their bodies in a safe and controlled environment, leading to increased ease and freedom on all levels of well-being.

TRE is a holistic approach to release tension and stress from the body that accumulates over time from physical, mental or emotional trauma.
